Before the 2009 campaign kicked off, Ron Muhitch talked about his Tigers having one of the toughest regular season schedules he had ever witnessed. Little did the Wheaton Warrenville South head coach realize it would get even harder.

Bruised and battered, Glenbard South literally staggered to the final whistle last Saturday. And though in the end the Raiders fell short for the second straight year in the quarterfinals, the 2009 squad had absolutely nothing to be ashamed about.

It is a safe bet to assume that no Glenbard West football player or coach has forgotten the 27-20 loss in the Class 7A semifinals last year to eventual state champion East St. Louis.
 

Evin Natick's 16-yard touchdown run on the last play of the third quarter turned out to be the difference in a defensive battle as Glenbard North beat Downers Grove South 7-3 in the Class 8A state quarterfinals.

Wheaton North was knocked out of the Class 7A playoffs with a 24-17 loss to Lake Zurich in Wheaton on Saturday night.

Matchups are in place for this weekend's IHSA state semifinals.

Capturing its 10th victory in a row in the process, Wheaton Warrenville South advanced to the Class 7A semifinals after knocking off St. Rita 23-14 in Chicago on Friday.
