In a game that was a tale of two halves, Wheaton Warreville South survived a stiff test from visiting Geneva in a Class 7A second-round game Friday. The Tigers held on to win 30-16, but the game was much closer than the final score indicated.

Hinsdale Central was dealt a big blow to their playoffs chances when John Whitelaw was ruled out due to a concussion. Then Sandburg's Jermell Harris did the rest.

It was hard to tell what Glenbard West senior Adam Bruere was more excited about Friday night, the fact the Hilltoppers’ just completed their second straight undefeated regular season, or the team’s upcoming fire truck ride back into Glen Ellyn.

Truthfully, the fire trucks were all Bruere seemed to be thinking about.

The wasn't the gameplan for St. Charles East's defense going into Friday's game aginat homecoming host Bartlett at Milliennium Field in Streamwood.

One team comes in undefeated in conference. The other has its back against the wall with four losses this season. While tonight's contest between St. Charles East (4-2 overall, 4-0 in the Upstate Eight Conference) and host Bartlett (2-4, 1-3) features two teams heading in different directions, it should be an intriguing matchup nonetheless.

York High School officially introduced its new field with artificial turf at the school’s stadium Friday night before the Dukes’ homecoming football game with Lyons Township, but after the game, it was LT quarterback Ryan Mitchell who was praising the new surface.

And with good reason.

After being silenced for over three quarters by Lemont's tough defense, Hillcrest turned the momentum with a big play and came up clutch offensively and defensively the rest of the way to win 16-10 in overtime in a battle of previous unbeatens.
