First-round playoff action last weekend witnessed both expected results and huge upsets. Area teams now prepare for their Round 2 opponents.

York knew it needed to win Friday's night home tilt against Hinsdale Central to have any chance of reaching the postseason. John Whitelaw had other ideas.

When you line up next to Alex Kirk and your quarterback is John Whitelaw, the chances of standing out are certainly rather remote.
But that opportunity presented itself to John Lyons last Friday night and the senior responded in a big way, helping Hinsdale Central (3-2) to a 48-7 win over Hinsdale South (0-5) in Darien.

OUTLOOK The Red Devils had everything clicking last week in a 48-7 dismantling of rival Hinsdale South. The offense has now scored 104 points over the last two weeks and will look to continue that sizzling play.
 

Even as major Division I colleges choose to stay away, John Whitelaw continues to shred opposing defenses.

His latest victim was Hinsdale South, which watched as the senior quarterback tossed three touchddown passes to go along with a pair of rushing scores as Hinsdale Central knocked off the Hornets 48-7 Friday night in Darien.
